Here is one of many looks for what I would have to call my dress season. I still owe you all the other dresses I wore for the Holidays so expect to see those soon. The one you see here is from Ann Taylor, which I paired in a very matchy-matchy way with navy Aldo pumps and the Kate Spade purse I will never get tired of. I wore this to a San Juan Moda event sponsored by Lincoln last Thursday, January 29. The night truly was all about fashion and luxury with the transformation of a car dealer into a very chic lounge with a DJ, creative bartenders, delicious entrees, and a presentation of the designers participating in the main event from March 14th to the 21st. Jaer Cabán, Luis Antonio, Eclíptica, José Raúl, Lisa Thon, Sonia Rivera, Miriam Budet, Of Atelier, Carlos Alberto, and Harry Robles were among the ones who showed a preview of their collections here and I must say I'm really looking forward to seeing the rest. A couple of weeks ago I was invited to the event Disaronno Di Moda presenting Margarita Alvarez's new collection "Tropical Struggle" at the Eternal Lobby Lounge at The Condado Plaza Hilton. I had an amazing time tasting delicious Disaronno cocktails and seeing all the beautiful pieces by the designer, which you can appreciate above. My favorite one is definitely the dress with the embroidered black and gold flowers with the leaves hanging loosely at the bottom. Alvarez's choice of fabrics was by far made with amazing taste, and so were the accessories by No Tire Reuse, a one of a kind brand that utilizes rescued truck tire inner tubes as the material for hand made creative purses and other art pieces. As for my outfit for the event, I wore a red playsuit with lace details from Marshall's along with Charlotte Russe lace up shoes and Wet Seal animal print satchel. Now that we are in the holiday season wearing lots of red seemed proper by now. I hope you like what you see here as much as I did. I'm so proud to be able to support more local designers through Sequin Vision, and I can't wait for the next opportunity to do so. I'm back from celebrating not just Thanksgiving, but also my birthday, and many other occasions so without further delay here I give you the look for the latest fashion event I attended. I was invited as a guest to Imagen Runway Trends at Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, a yearly event presented by Imagen Nuestra Revista, a Puerto Rican magazine, in which the best local models, boutiques, and designers get together to show the most popular trend of the season. This year's theme was the 60's and it was presented exquisitely with bold geometric prints and simple silhouettes like the classic shift dress. There were also a few cocktail and evening dresses that I was obsessed with because: SEQUINS! The cocktail before the show was another part of the event I enjoyed with promotions by Avon and Cointreau as you can see in the pictures below. To see more pictures of the show you can check out Imagen's blog. I hope you enjoy them and get inspired as much as I did until the next look and event! Here's a look that I transformed from a day at the office to a night out of fashion events. My day started early at the university, where I attended a TEDx event that was amazing and you can learn more about it at www.ted.com. After that I headed down to work wearing the office version of this outfit which was the same skirt and shoes, and a fuchsia button down shirt instead of the bustier and blazer. There, I was interviewed about Total's internship program for the n-punto section of the local newspaper El Nuevo Día, which was very exciting. After work I changed to the more fashionable attire you see here to go to Galeria Shoes' event "It's a Fashion Bash". Galeria Shoes went all out not just with an incredible sale, but also with a fashion show by Jean Cintrón accesorized by Heel Condoms and Lizet Miró jewelry, and delicious food by SODA Estudio de Cocina, a restaurant I had just visited and loved. After Galeria Shoes I went to another event: Casino Metro's 5th Anniversary Runway presented by Nao Nao Group at the Sheraton Puerto Rico Convention Center. The event showcased the Spring/Summer 2015 collections of Custo Barcelona, José Raúl, Lisa Nieves, and P.ERE which is a unique new store in Plaza las Américas that presents women's clothing designed and manufactured in Puerto Rico. Custo's collection was well...very Custo with the bold prints but I believe this was their Fall/Winter 2014 collection since it consisted of outerwear and dark colors instead of the usual bright and shocking ones. My favorite pieces were focused on texture like the black velvet coat with a fringed black and grey skirt, and what seemed to be a wool coat in a grey tribal print. P.ERE had pieces of black, red, and metallic colors. I loved the striped body con dress with the contrast of the sheer fabric flowing on the sides and the A line dress with mixed patterns and sharp shoulders that created such a flattering illusion. The high-low polka dot dress was also a keeper, but the best of all was not a piece of clothing but of jewelry that was a golden spectacle. From José Raúl's collection "Agua de Coco" I barely found anything wearable except for the pieces I'm showing here, which are still not completely to my liking, but then again I'm not keen on men's taste for designer clothes. Finally, there is Lisa Nieves' collection "Colorare", which was filled with, you guessed it, colorful pieces made mainly of lace. I found the color combinations refreshing, even the orange and purple, but my favorite piece was the halter skater dress in shades of aqua with sequinned details. My night was very successful since I not only got to dress up and look at beautiful shoes and clothes, but I also had the chance to meet amazing bloggers like Taryn from Unique Fashion, Teresa from Trend-ish, and Andrea from The Striped Complex. I even bumped into the amazing guy who designed my fabulous skirt, Alejandro Aldarondo. Until the next fashion-filled outing, enjoy all the designer looks on the slide show bellow. Beautiful thinking; a well mind. This is what we should aspire to express always. Through fashion is one way I believe we can express this, which is why I'm so passionate about it and love to write about it through Sequin Vision. I promised in my last post that I would show you the second look I wore for San Juan Moda so here it is. I wore this floral printed playsuit I bought back when I was in Albany at Forever 21 and I paired it with these pumps I got recently for my new job, which I'm so excited to tell you about. I'm working as a Marketing Intern at the multinational company Total Petroleum. Finally, I'm able to put my skills and education to use and even get paid for it! Lately a lot of amazing things have been happening to me professionally and academically so my latest outfits definitely express this happiness I have. And what looks happier than colorful flowers, right? I hope this look inspires you to dress to express as I have been doing until the next post. Here is the look I wore for the first day of San Juan Moda last Saturday. This colorful printed crop top and pant set is from Moni & Coli, which is a cool online boutique by a duo of Puerto Rican sisters with impeccable taste. I got the set for an amazing price too and that's just icing on the cake when I find a new place to shop. I wore the set with a blazer and purse from Forever 21, and cobalt shoes that matched perfectly. I was so excited to not be the only colorful blogger at the event, Andrea Devoto from Andrea's Devotion, Karla Mercado from The Trend Oven, and Charleen from The Broke Girls were there to enjoy all the fashion as well. The night was dedicated to swimwear designers such as Bernarda Morales, Juan Carlos Collazo, Tommy Hernández, Yanira Maldonado for Sol Azul, and Verónika Pagán. My favorite collection was definitely Sol Azul's with it's psychedelic and tribal prints with unexpected cutouts, fringe and braids. So that's the recap for night one of San Juan Moda, and on the next post I'll share my other night of fashion at this event. Enjoy and stay fashionably inspired.
Yesterday Stella Nolasco debuted at New York Fashion Week presenting a Spring/Summer 2015 collection that left many impressed. The Puerto Rican designer not only has a great fan base here in the Island, but now with designs in Neiman Marcus and this show she is getting a lot more recognition in the international fashion scene. The collection composed of evening gowns possessed an air of feminine sophistication and elegance with the use of sequins, beaded embellishments, lace, and silk in striking metallic hues. This is a very proud moment for Puerto Ricans and it means so much for the fashion industry here. If you want to see the show click here. Below are my favorite looks. Last night the traditional cutting of the ribbon gave start to Puerto Rico's own fashion week, San Juan Moda. The week that will go on through September 6th to the 13th at the San Juan Hotel will present local and international designers for couture, ready to wear, and accessories in alliance with the Dominican Republic. This is the third edition of such event, and it is being dedicated to Grace Fontecha, the well renowned trainer of beauty queens, which I had a chance to meet when I participated in the competition Reina de San Patricio. She has definitely made great contributions to the modeling industry in Puerto Rico. This edition also includes Puerto Rico in the international calendar of fashion events, by having Spring/Summer presentations in September. Stay in touch with Sequin Vision by following the blog and social media to get all the details of this event. Hello again fellow readers! Even though school is way underway, here is a summery kind of look (it pretty much is summer all year round here anyway) that I wore on a recent fun night out with my friend Marcia at Rio Piedras. I was wearing a spaghetti strap peplum top from Zara that I just fell in love with along with it's sale price. I paired it with a pair of studded high waisted shorts and a purse from Forever 21, and new printed slip ons from American Eagle Outfitters. I also accessorized a little more with a cool Mayan calendar necklace my mother got me a while back and my go-to mirrored aviators. The night out was great, and greatly needed after a few stresses from school and work. At least I was able to catch up with old high school friends and got to celebrate that although things aren't turning out as expected there are other plans that are going to come to life sooner since I'm graduating this May! There are a lot a fashion events soon to come not just because of New York, London, Milan, and Paris fashion weeks, but also because of Puerto Rico's very own shows. So September, bring it on! Here is the night look, which was for the World of Spirits event in the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico, also known as Artejangueo. This amazing sequined pencil skirt I wore is actually a buy from when I was in Albany, and I got it at Target for a steal. The top is also a steal, but a more recent one from Marshalls, and I have to say I thought it was a pretty risky piece since the fabric is so thin and there is no way to wear a bra with it and make it look good because of that low back with the cute bow so that is how I wore it and I think I pulled it off. To add some color to the outfit as I usually do I used my Kate Spade check print purse and matched it with the pair of cobalt sandals you see here. The event was as amazing as I felt in this outfit. I went with my friend Genesis and we were both given a passport to about 15 stations representing different parts of the world in liquors and food. My favorite was the Ketel One station where you got to hand pick the ingredients for your cocktail, mine was raspberries with a ginger and cinnamon mixer which just blew me away. The event also had a fashion show by Merodea.me which is a great shopping destination for Puerto Rican and International designer clothes. For photos of this you can check out their Facebook page here. I could not have asked for a better Saturday filled with friends, food, and of course fashion. |
