Superbowl Sunday is what this look was for, and the reason for the name is because I was rooting for Broncos of course. I got inspired not to dress up in fan wear (since I'm not really a football fan or own any jerseys), but at least I wanted to look sporty in some way. I wore a cool geek sweater from Marshall's I bought just before leaving Puerto Rico, a pair of burgundy jeggings from Wallmart (the place where I have done the most shopping since I got here), boots from Charlotte Russe, and an animal print satchel from Wet Seal. It wasn't that cold on Sunday so to stay just warm enough I wore the Guess coat Texi gave me for Christmas and a really nice Coach scarf that his mother let me take here. I have to give my Italian friend Beni all the credit for these pictures and the ones from my previous posts as well. Not only did she take fashionable photos, but also she takes the funniest ones as you can see from the last two here. Even though my team lost on Sunday I still had an amazing time and I even got to see the Harlem Globetrotters that day too! Enjoy this look and expect and even better one after this.

Even though I just had a day of having everything going not the way I wanted, I feel that I am starting this year quite right because of my blog and the adventure I'm about to have in New York. It still feels unreal to me, but I know that once I'm sitting in that plane I'll know how real it is. In the meantime I'm gonna show you another look I might not be able to wear once I'm there in the cold. I wore this look to a Pre Magic King's Day party at a friend's house. The jewel printed top is from Banana Republic, the jeans are the ones you've seen before from Kmart only this time they are even more ripped, the cobalt shoes are from La Defensa, the aviators are from American Eagle Outfitters, and the brown quilted purse is from Lulu. I accessorized a little more than I usually do this time by using the cute vintage pendant necklace my grandmother gave me, the Armitron watch my boyfriend's parents gave me and some golden colored bracelets along with a cool arrow ring from Aldo. Enjoy1 What a night I had last Saturday! I was able to enjoy the great music of Queen, thanks to a tribute band from Argentina called God Save the Queen. They not only sounded exactly like the band, but they also looked the part. The singer stayed in character the whole night, it was as if he brought Freddie Mercury back from the grave. I sang along with my boyfriend and a couple of friends at Bahia Urbana, this nice little amphitheater in Old San Juan, where you can see the cruise ships leave the island, feel the cooling ocean breeze and hear the music in the best way possible. I went for a 90's style look with a top underneath the spaghetti straps of a sexy slip dress from Zara. I saw the dress styled exactly like this on the store's mannequin, and could not resist trying the look for myself. I was also wearing a pair of ankle boots from Zara and to add even more vintageness I used an old clutch from my grandmother's closet. The look and the night were both incredible, I hope you all think so too, but if you don't than...♪it doesn't really matter♫ Happy Holidays fellow readers! My favorite time of the year has finally begun, and I am so excited to share with you all the looks that make this season so great. It might not be cold enough in Puerto Rico to wear chic coats or play with a lot of layering, but there are still all the events that require awesome fashion since we do have an exaggerated amount of celebrations here. Today, I am showing a work look that can also be great for one of these events and also uses the most popular color of this season which is burgundy. The star of this look is definitely the burgundy skirt with laser cut details, which I recently bought a long with a few new items you’ve seen in my previous looks at T.J. Max. Pencil skirts and peplum tops are a great combination, and I made this pair even better by using a top from Charlotte Russe with laser cut details as well. Finally I had to accessorize with my Shoedazzle burgundy beauties, and my Aldo Miyata bag. Oh and I almost forgot, this look would not be complete without a pair of dark lips, which is also an accessory that is very in this season. I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving weekend, who wouldn’t with all the good food and all the shopping right? Well, that was my case, and I can’t wait to show everything I got. For now, you can get some holiday fashion inspiration with this look, enjoy! If you have been overwhelmed by all the tartan that has been showing up on the street style scene, this look is not for you, but if you’re feeling that Holiday spirit and you have been dying for a casual look that goes with it, then yes this is for you. I wore this look to see Thor 2 with Texi last week, which was great. I wore a new tartan shirt I bought recently at T.J. Max a long with my vintage high waisted denim shorts from Ouna’s Closet. The other new piece here, which you saw in my look “Make it short” is the red purse from Aldo. Finally, to complete the look I wore my studded ankle boots from Zara, only this time I decided to try a trend I’ve been seeing around, which is wearing ankle boots with ankle-dress socks. The pair I’m wearing is actually for men, but I think I pulled it off. Now I just need to get some gray ones that might look even better, what do you think? I would love to see what thoughts you have on this trend, you can comment here or go to my facebook page. Don’t forget to follow on Bloglovin’, Instagram, and Twitter too! Surprise! This is the change I was referring to on my last post. I had decided for my birthday to make a bold change, and not only does it look more chic but hopefully it will restore my hair, which was becoming weak and unhealthy. You can’t see it here, but I added a subtle ombré to the new cut since I had gotten rid of the one I had, and I can’t wait to show it off here. This look you see here is what I wore last Saturday, which was the day I actually made the hair change. I was wearing a very cute lipstick print top and striped sweater from T.J. Max I recently got, along with a pair of jeggings from American Eagle Outfitters, Payless red pumps, and an amazing red purse I bought that very same day from Aldo on sale. To finish the look I obviously had to match with red lips, and the hair was already perfectly styled. Later that night I went out with Texi and got some very much needed beers. It was very good day, now all I need is an even more amazing birthday, which is tomorrow. Enjoy! Here's another work look from last week. This was on one of those days in which I had no idea what to wear. All I knew was that I wanted to wear a dress so I dug this one out of my mother's closet. I added the sweater mainly so I would not freeze to death in the office, but it also made this dress look a little younger for me. I went for an almost monochromatic look in beige, using this nice pair of pointed toe pumps, and the most perfect Céline inspired bag from Shoedazzle. These pictures were taken by my friend and coworker Eduardo, and there's another look he took that I think you are all going to like. Until the next one, enjoy! Hello again fellow Sequin Visioners! I hope you all had a great month of October and an awesome Halloween, I know I did. Today I want to show a look I wore a couple of weeks ago on a movie date with Texi. Unfortunately, with all the madness of work, studies, and fashion events I had to reserve this look until now. The skirt I'm wearing is actually a very old dress that I realized would match perfectly with this printed tank from Charlotte Russe, and with all the plaid in trend I could and fuller skirts on trend I could not help myself. The top was a little big on me and the bra was going to show either way so why not purposely wear a black one right? I think it adds a sexy Parisian touch a long with the statement earrings and lips. I also wore the Dollhouse biker jacket I got at Marshall's recently, Charlotte Russe black pumps, and a vintage purse from my grandmother's closet. The purse is definitely an interesting piece, not just because of the shape but also because of the mirror inside, which makes it look like an old jewelry box. Paris is always a good idea, especially when it comes to fashion; enjoy! Saturday, October 26th was the final day of the Puerto Rico High Fashion Week event in the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico and I was able to share this experience with my best friend Ana; it would not have been such an awesome night if it wasn’t for her. After escaping the dreaded traffic of Puerto Rico we arrived at the Museum at 6:30, when the show was scheduled for 6:15 (fashionably late is an understatement in P.R.) We didn’t know exactly where the event was being held so after passing through the empty museum we found ourselves going down nervously on a huge staircase outside, hoping that our heels would not cause a fall. Once we were down we saw where the event actually was, in a large white tent where civilization was heading to. We entered the tent into a packed lounge area to wait until the curtains were opened and the crowd would pour in as if going through a funnel. For the first show we bought general tickets so we had to choose our seats in the last two rows. Fortunately, Maleyda, who was part of the organization of this event and has been very supportive of my blog by providing press communication, got us to the front row. This first show was actually a presentation of a group of up and coming local designers called The New Generation II. Reynaldo José was the first designer to present his take on Spring Summer 2014. This collection composed of bright hues of aqua, fuchsia, and lilac had a lot of volume and interesting textures seen in ruffles, capes, frills, and geometric embroidery. The next designer was Gabriel Ocasio, who presented a completely different style, with edgy pieces in black, white and bright yellow. The most recurring element in Ocasio’s collection was a graphic print of the famous portrait of Julia de Burgos. Orlando Emanuel was the third designer, and his collection of feminine dresses was actually one of my favorites of the night. The combination of nude, orange and turquoise was flawless especially with details such as sequins, embroidery, and striped fabrics. The fourth and final designer to present was Joseph Da’ponte, which seemed like an anti-spring collection or better yet an anti-Christ inspired collection. The smell of incense that was troubling Ana from the beginning of the show grew more intense as a group of male models in nothing but black and white briefs with peculiar add-ons along with chunky tribal jewelry came in. They stood in a tight formation for about a minute and then a strange satanic-ish music started. It was all black and white pieces with cross designs and appliqués made with wires, rhinestones, and even candles and incense which were lit on the shoulders of the last piece of the collection. The dresses I liked from Da’ponte’s collection were really the only two wearable which were an Ouija print body con and a white flowy gown with wire appliqués on the top. When that first show was finished Ana and I went and had some gourmet snacks while we waited for the Arte Por La Paz Gala to begin. We did miss Jaer Caban's collection, but I stayed updated and from what I saw on Instagram it was composed of intricate pieces with very modern figures and textures. There were a few crazy accessories as well, but all in the name of fashion. Finally, the Gala began with a musical number by the talented students of Escuela Libre de Música Ernesto Ramos Antonini, including inspiring young vocalist Adiel Micheo. Then designer Jackie Tejada presented her collection for children and tweens, "Paper Dolls", which the name almost says it all, that's exactly how those tiny models looked. Her designs were delicate, feminine, filled with lace, embroidery, all in a color palette of pink, pastel yellow, orange, and white. Reynaldo Álvarez was the closing of the night, with a collection straight from Paris. His designs were simple, chic, and elegant using color blocking with nude, black, white, turquoise, and fuchsia. Solid pieces with sleek asymmetric cuts and small details such as a bow or a modern flower were all part of this collection. Before the models made their final walk out came Giselle Blondet, founder of Arte Por La Paz, in one of Álvarez's designs and the event ended. I am very grateful to have at least made it to this night, this was after all the first time I assisted the event and there is no way in hell I am missing the next one! Enjoy the pictures, just click on each to see them in detail. Friday, October 11th was the sixth day of San Juan Moda, and for me it was just the second and sadly the last day. That night I decided to wear one of my favorite dresses from Forever 21, a long with the most bad ass biker jacket from Dollhouse, the cutest burgundy shoes from Shoedazzle, and the best partners in crime: my Miyata bag from Aldo and my "Shame" lipstick from Urban Decay. Of course, my press badge could not be missing from this outfit as you can see, and even though the weight of the whole week fell upon me, the show went on and boy was it a good one! Before heading to Hotel San Juan I had some yummy sushi with Texi, I was not going on a fashion hunt with an empty stomach! The first collection presented was by Carlos Alberto, designer known for dressing our Miss Universe. The guest list of this show seemed to include a lot of non fashion related people like the ex-mayor of San Juan, the ex-president of the House of Representatives, and a bunch of women dressed like they were going to club Brava, a long with a crowd of soccer moms that came to see their little girls model, because apparently the designer mixed (or should I say smashed together) the collection "Splendor Child" and "Replicas". The girls looked incredibly cute, and I actually enjoyed a few of the pieces, but as for the gowns and "other" pieces for women... it was as a fellow fashionista sitting next to me said "the worst of 90's prom in one". There were sheer pieces, there were feathers, there were rhinestones, there were mermaid silhouettes, and there was even a special guest appearance by the Powerpuff Girls (the three models at the end in green, blue and pink). I am a little glad I was not able to see all that well from my press corner for this (harsh, but true). Next up was Frolain Hats by Blanca Viera at the beautiful and popular Hotel San Juan lobby. I thought the designs were amazing though I am biased to head wear that reminds me of Lady Gaga. My favorite from his collection called "Endless" was a black piece with white stripes on the picture below. After surviving the second ballroom mosh pit of this event, I was able to find a better spot to take pictures of the next show, Pipo Pere's collection "Grafi-co", which paid homage to Italian fashion house Missoni. The 70's vibe was clearly represented in this collection with colorful patterned fabrics, a lot of fringe, flowers here and there, long sleek hair, and bug eyed sunglasses. What captured my attention the most from this collection was the use of the latest trend of pairing sheer skirts over bodysuits, only he did this with a lace or mesh skirt on a playful print instead of using a solid color. The night ended with another presentation in the lobby by Jesuan Ramos and Belmari Sifonte for Punky Collection, a delightfully creative line of accessories that have a modern tribal flare. As if their pieces don't stand out enough, their models were head to toe in black and made these neon acrylic fashion statements pop. That's it for my adventure on San Juan Moda, overall it was a great event and I would definitely like to go again next year. Now I have to try and have an adventure on Puerto Rico High Fashion Week, hopefully I will cover at least one of the shows, you will find out soon on the next posts to come, in the mean time enjoy more pictures of this event and a video of Pipo Pere's collection. |
