Yes! I finally made it to New York City and right when Fashion Week started, but being my first time in this magical place I did not see anything related to the event. In fact, I might have been near a show and not even know about it. I feel kind of guilty that I did not even try to see the event, but at the same time I feel I had no choice since I wanted to see much more before that. My friend Beni and I did see a lot in just two days and we are really proud of that. These pictures are from the first day, Friday February 7th. Our first stop was Central Park, which had become a Winter Wonderland and that made us love it even more. I was wearing a striped top from Banana Republic, with ripped jeans from Kmart, ankle boots from Zara, and coat and scarf from one of my grandmother's closet and the furry hat is from another grandmother (grannies are great!). After that we walked through Fifth Avenue until we found The Empire State Building. We had gotten there just in time for the sunset and it truly was an amazing site. The night ended with great eats and drinks at The Village, and boy was it fun! Enjoy the pictures, and in the next post you can expect more of my adventures in N.Y.C.

Superbowl Sunday is what this look was for, and the reason for the name is because I was rooting for Broncos of course. I got inspired not to dress up in fan wear (since I'm not really a football fan or own any jerseys), but at least I wanted to look sporty in some way. I wore a cool geek sweater from Marshall's I bought just before leaving Puerto Rico, a pair of burgundy jeggings from Wallmart (the place where I have done the most shopping since I got here), boots from Charlotte Russe, and an animal print satchel from Wet Seal. It wasn't that cold on Sunday so to stay just warm enough I wore the Guess coat Texi gave me for Christmas and a really nice Coach scarf that his mother let me take here. I have to give my Italian friend Beni all the credit for these pictures and the ones from my previous posts as well. Not only did she take fashionable photos, but also she takes the funniest ones as you can see from the last two here. Even though my team lost on Sunday I still had an amazing time and I even got to see the Harlem Globetrotters that day too! Enjoy this look and expect and even better one after this. Last week was surely one the coldest with temperatures of single digit numbers, but this vintage faux fur coat I wore not only looked warm, it was! Here I was trying to go for a look resembling Margot Tenenbaum, if you didn't notice with my hair parted to the side and the eyeliner. I made it look a little more modern preppy by mixing the animal print of the PacSun sweater with a striped button down shirt underneath from Marshall's. I kept it comfortable and warm with jeans and a pair of high boots from Charlotte Russe. Being "inspired" by the cold weather (really I just want to stay warm), the fur, and the woodsy area of UAlbany's campus I decided to name this look after my favorite song of the moment "Dirty Paws" by Of Monsters and Men. Enjoy! The cold weather here in Albany cannot stop me from creating looks and going out so as I promised before I'm going to show another winter outfit. Here I layered a button down shirt under a sweater again, this time the top is from Ann Taylor and the sweater is another fashion find from my grandmother's closet. To keep me warm I wore a Guess coat with leather details on the shoulders and arms, which was a Christmas present from Texi. I was also wearing boyfriend jeans from Aéropostale, new boots from Charlotte Russe, and my Aldo Miyata purse. I spent this past Saturday on the Empire State Plaza where I saw the New York State Museum and where the night before I had gone ice skating. All these great sites would not be as amazing if I was not able to share them with such great people, and I am talking about the international students that I have met throughout this experience. There is still one more person who I miss so much and would love to share this with, and that person is Texi. I can't wait for his visit! Hello again fellow readers, this time from Albany, New York! I can't believe I'm saying that, but yes I'm really here and it has been a great week filled with new adventures like getting lost and making friends from all over the world. Even though I am already here I still had one look from Puerto Rico pending and it is kind of a transition look from the hot weather there to the cold one here because of the rhinestone jumper from Old Navy, which you saw in a previous look of mine. Under the jumper I wore my coveted Zara slip dress that is actually the only dress I brought with me and I hope to be able to wear it. I also wore my Charlotte Russe lace up boots and a great new clutch from Wet seal with a cute grip that says love. I wore this on a dinner date with Texi, who is back home and I miss so much already. Until the next look, enjoy! Even though I just had a day of having everything going not the way I wanted, I feel that I am starting this year quite right because of my blog and the adventure I'm about to have in New York. It still feels unreal to me, but I know that once I'm sitting in that plane I'll know how real it is. In the meantime I'm gonna show you another look I might not be able to wear once I'm there in the cold. I wore this look to a Pre Magic King's Day party at a friend's house. The jewel printed top is from Banana Republic, the jeans are the ones you've seen before from Kmart only this time they are even more ripped, the cobalt shoes are from La Defensa, the aviators are from American Eagle Outfitters, and the brown quilted purse is from Lulu. I accessorized a little more than I usually do this time by using the cute vintage pendant necklace my grandmother gave me, the Armitron watch my boyfriend's parents gave me and some golden colored bracelets along with a cool arrow ring from Aldo. Enjoy1 Here it is, the New Year's Eve look that was a little overdue. It's not the glamorous look you were expecting, but at least it included the most important trend for this event, which is sequins! I celebrated the beginning of 2014 with my family in Rincón or in Paradise as my parents would probably call it. Being in such a casual place with the beach vibe everywhere you go I had to dress according to that ambiance. I wore my gold sequin tank top from Forever 21, with a new black asymmetric skort from PacSun, layered with a palm tree button down from American Eagle Outfitters, and to make the look even more laid back I wore the pair of dirty Converse sneakers you see here. The party at my parent's perma-vacation house was a blast. There was so much to drink and eat, there was the inevitable embarrassing dancing, and of course lots of firecrackers. I am so glad I was able to share another new year with Texi, and what a great 2013 we had. I also had a great year on my own having the experience of an internship at a fashion magazine and being able to attend events such as San Juan Moda and Puerto Rico High Fashion Week. I am definitely very grateful for this and I am so excited to see what's about to come. Here we go 2014! With the picture above it is easy to see what this post will be about: my little island of Puerto Rico of course! These pictures were taken the last Saturday of 2013, a day that I spent with Texi and his family hanging out at the Bacardi rum distillery and at Old San Juan. What a great day it was,we had rum, we had a craft beer inspired by Game of Thrones, and we had beautiful weather to walk around the old city. This might be the last time I can enjoy these things from Puerto Rico for a while since I am officially going to New York this semester on an exchange program. I am so excited and a little scared, it's even hard to accept it's real. This is what I meant in my last post about the great things I'm going to share this year on Sequin Vision. There is definitely more to come! Next post is my NYE outfit, which is a cool twist on sequins. Wow, I can't believe I haven't posted since last year! (Yes, I just made that lame joke) I guess I'm starting 2014 with a great holiday look, even though the season is basically over (for most of you, unless you're a Puerto Rican like me). I wore this beautiful blue lace dress I got from Sheinside on their Cyber Monday Sale along with the perfect matching pumps from Shoedazzle for a Christmas Eve party with Texi and his family. To complete the look I matched my makeup creating intense eyes with blue shadows and simple lips. I have more looks from these holidays in store for you all, and also big news that is just going to make this year one filled with some even greater posts! For now, I'll just leave you in suspense, enjoy! Hello again fellow readers! I hope you all had a great Christmas. Here is another holiday look, but not a traditional one as you can see. I wore this to another party on the country side, and I could not decide whether to look more country-ish or holiday classy so I tried both. The overalls are from Nasty Gal, the button down shirt is from Ann Taylor, the pleather bow tie is from Valija Gitana, and the black pumps are from PacSun. I know this is a strange look that not everyone likes or can pull off, but as you might have seen in my previous looks, every now and then I like to take risks like this, and no one should be afraid to do the same because, after all, that is what fashion is all about to me. I hope this inspires others to be fearless fashionistas. Enjoy! |
