Here is the look I wore for the first day of San Juan Moda last Saturday. This colorful printed crop top and pant set is from Moni & Coli, which is a cool online boutique by a duo of Puerto Rican sisters with impeccable taste. I got the set for an amazing price too and that's just icing on the cake when I find a new place to shop. I wore the set with a blazer and purse from Forever 21, and cobalt shoes that matched perfectly. I was so excited to not be the only colorful blogger at the event, Andrea Devoto from Andrea's Devotion, Karla Mercado from The Trend Oven, and Charleen from The Broke Girls were there to enjoy all the fashion as well. The night was dedicated to swimwear designers such as Bernarda Morales, Juan Carlos Collazo, Tommy Hernández, Yanira Maldonado for Sol Azul, and Verónika Pagán. My favorite collection was definitely Sol Azul's with it's psychedelic and tribal prints with unexpected cutouts, fringe and braids. So that's the recap for night one of San Juan Moda, and on the next post I'll share my other night of fashion at this event. Enjoy and stay fashionably inspired.

Yesterday Stella Nolasco debuted at New York Fashion Week presenting a Spring/Summer 2015 collection that left many impressed. The Puerto Rican designer not only has a great fan base here in the Island, but now with designs in Neiman Marcus and this show she is getting a lot more recognition in the international fashion scene. The collection composed of evening gowns possessed an air of feminine sophistication and elegance with the use of sequins, beaded embellishments, lace, and silk in striking metallic hues. This is a very proud moment for Puerto Ricans and it means so much for the fashion industry here. If you want to see the show click here. Below are my favorite looks. Last night the traditional cutting of the ribbon gave start to Puerto Rico's own fashion week, San Juan Moda. The week that will go on through September 6th to the 13th at the San Juan Hotel will present local and international designers for couture, ready to wear, and accessories in alliance with the Dominican Republic. This is the third edition of such event, and it is being dedicated to Grace Fontecha, the well renowned trainer of beauty queens, which I had a chance to meet when I participated in the competition Reina de San Patricio. She has definitely made great contributions to the modeling industry in Puerto Rico. This edition also includes Puerto Rico in the international calendar of fashion events, by having Spring/Summer presentations in September. Stay in touch with Sequin Vision by following the blog and social media to get all the details of this event. Hello again fellow readers! Even though school is way underway, here is a summery kind of look (it pretty much is summer all year round here anyway) that I wore on a recent fun night out with my friend Marcia at Rio Piedras. I was wearing a spaghetti strap peplum top from Zara that I just fell in love with along with it's sale price. I paired it with a pair of studded high waisted shorts and a purse from Forever 21, and new printed slip ons from American Eagle Outfitters. I also accessorized a little more with a cool Mayan calendar necklace my mother got me a while back and my go-to mirrored aviators. The night out was great, and greatly needed after a few stresses from school and work. At least I was able to catch up with old high school friends and got to celebrate that although things aren't turning out as expected there are other plans that are going to come to life sooner since I'm graduating this May! There are a lot a fashion events soon to come not just because of New York, London, Milan, and Paris fashion weeks, but also because of Puerto Rico's very own shows. So September, bring it on! |
