I hope you are all as excited as I am to watch The Great Gatsby, even if you haven't read the book or are reading it in a hurry like me. I love the trailer that has this Kanye West song so much that I named this look after it and also I guess it goes with the theme of the cross print in the button down shirt from Forever 21, which you saw in this look too. The dress and the boots are from Charlotte Russe, and I left the rest of the look almost accessory-less ( I have my lazy days). I wore this to work on Saturday, which was perfect because I had to promote a dress sale and I was comfortable. I had actually worn this dress before, but adding the shirt made it a completely different look. Enjoy, and happy Monday!

I think I promised more beach looks a few posts ago, so here's one perfect look for summer. I named it after the song "San Francisco" by Scott McKenzie, although in this case the lyrics would match perfectly if they said "if your going to Puerto Rico". I wore this last Sunday, which was an incredibly sunny and windy day at the beach in Isla Verde, Texi and I got slapped by the sand so many times we didn't stay for long. I was wearing the white flower crown from Ouna's Closet you saw first in this look, gray Volcom crop top from PacSun, and maxi skirt from Forever 21. Expect even more summer looks as I am almost finally done with the most hated semester so far.
It is probably a little late to say this, but I hope my fellow readers had a nice weekend, I know I did since this outfit was part of it. I had been longing to wear a whole Coca-Cola inspired look ever since I got the cap you see here, which was a couple of years ago (I like to plan my outfits years in advance yes). I did not wear this to any event, just to a casual movie date with Texi to see Evil Dead. If you haven't seen it yet, stick around after the credits, you'll laugh your ass off when you see what comes next (this is only funny if you have seen the old Evil Dead 2 like me). I was able to complete this look thanks to the T-shirt I got at Old Navy recently and I cut out the sleeves. Under the top I wore a maxi dress, not a skirt, from Charlotte Russe that has a beautiful flower bustier, which you can see in this look where I also wore the red pumps. Too matchy-matchy? Doesn't matter, that's why it's a Coca-Cola Dream. Enjoy some more Coca-Cola Classic pictures. They are pretty posey, but I was going for commercial type look anyway.
I am proud to share with you my fellow readers this Puerto Rico High Fashion Week press release for a casting celebrated this Wednesday April 17th at Única modeling agency to select the members of The New Generation 2013, which opens the door to more diverse and creative designs. Out of the 28 designers that attended, 8 will be chosen by a jury composed of the designer and fashion professor Lisa Thon, fashion editor Arnaldo Rivera Braña, and fashion stylist Lizette Schettini. As Thon stated: "(PRHFW) is the most important fashion platform here in Puerto Rico...it incorporates what is already established talent with new talent and opens the field for designers that are starting their careers".
The designers that attended the casting were:
Since it's foundation in 2005, PRHFW has presented the collections of important designers in the local and international Industry. The event has also been a source of support for young talent, serving as basis for the professional growth of great designers such as Eclíptica, Jaer Cabán, José Karlo, and many others. The Spring-Summer 2014 edition of PRHFW will take place during October 23, 24, 25 of 2013 in the Puerto Rico Museum of Art. I'm already saving the date, are you saving it too? For more information you can access the official website www.prhfw.com, their facebook page, or call the number (787)-723-8866. I want to thank Maleyda Ruciano Torres, Public Relations Intern at PRHF for providing me the press release and pictures. Hopefully we'll see each other at the event. I can't wait! All these festival looks around blogs and social media got me inspired to try it myself even though I am incredibly far from Coachella. I wore this yesterday to a casual hangout with friends at a place called Summer's right where Texi studies. I was wearing new top and sneakers from Aeropostale, high waisted studded shorts from Forever 21, and the orange mirrored sunglasses from Charlotte Russe you saw in my recent look Daisy, Daisy... After a very stressful week I was finally able to relax, especially since I got back an accounting exam I took the same day I had to turn in everything for an internship in Washington, D.C. and thought I screwed up, but it turned out I did very well. Now all I need to feel even better is hear from the internship, which will have a formal interview for the candidates soon, so hopefully I'll post the most professional look ever for on that day. So many things going on, I am so ready for summer (can you tell by this look?) I am also getting my tanning on even though I have not been able to go to the beach recently (shh its a secret I might share later when the tan really shows). For now enjoy this almost summer looks.
Guess what? Yes more stripes and shorts! I wore this yesterday to a friends birthday at Palmas Station, which is where supposedly all the craft beers started getting sold here in Puerto Rico, now they're almost everywhere, so If i want to get that kind of beer I'd rather do it in a place that is more relaxed and less crowed. Still I enjoyed a couple of glasses of the local beer Old Harbor. I was wearing another new top from Old Navy, the shoes are also new from Charlotte Russe, they were the last pair so I got them for $10 (yay cheap!), and the high waisted nude shorts are from Forever 21. The temperature has been getting higher and higher here in Puerto Rico, which is why I've been showing off my legs a lot more as you can see in the first picture ;) I hope you enjoy this and if you're feeling the heat like me don't be afraid to work those sexy legs.
These past couple of days I've been watching classic old movies like Poltergeist, Evil Dead 2, and 2001: A Space Odyssey, so I named this look after the song that the HAL computer in the last movie sings while it is being shutdown, which is kind of funny for me and Texi when we watch it. The whole movie is a trip without the need for drugs ;). The other two movies are pretty funny to me too because of the effects that for that time were horrific, but today they are horrifically fake. At least I am now prepared to watch the new version of Evil Dead, speaking of which I had to dress up as one of the characters of the movie for a promo I did yesterday where I had to scare people in their cars on their way to work from 6:30 to 9:30 A.M. I might have scared a few little kids too, but it was so much fun. After working as a zombie-ish person I changed into the outfit you see here. I was wearing a new pair of sunglasses and blazer from Charlotte Russe, a top I also just got from Old Navy, the vintage daisy print shorts you have seen before here, and the sandals from Shoedazzle you have seen in this look where I combine them with floral shorts too. Enjoy the next pictures and I hope the last one doesn't scare you, it's not as pretty as the first ones.
This week seems to be going fast with a lot still to do, but still I find the time to post this outfit I wore on Sunday to see Olympus Has Fallen with Texi. I named it after the song from P!nk that I can't get out of my head, if you've heard it you probably can't either. I was wearing another flower crown from Ouna's Closet only this time in white. I also wore the high rise shorts with studs from Forever 21, Romwe thigh-high tights, which sadly I tore a little while shooting this up on my rooftop (sacrifices must be made sometimes, but I'll make that work). The boots you have seen before in the look called Transmission, and finally the top, which is new to you, is from a store called Sirens that is very awesome and very economic (in other words cheap, but in a good way). Get ready because tribal prints are popping up in stores again, as my friend Ana noticed yesterday while we were window shopping at Forever 21 (really we were torturing ourselves since we couldn't by anything). Also I've been seeing a lot of places calling this type of look, the festival look. It's the first time I have heard of it, but I seem to be getting it ;) Enjoy.
What a nice weekend it has been! I've had so much fun that I was inspired to name this look after the lyrics of Ke$ha's song C'mon. On Friday after working until closing I went to a friend's birthday party which culminated in an awesome game of flip cup, girls against boys. I realized I was pretty good at the game even though I had only played it once before and even though the girls team lost, we were the best because two of the members decided to play with rum instead of beer (yeah hardcore) and our name and chant was the Va-jay-jays. Then yesterday I went to dinner at YaYa's with my best friend Ana and later we had an impromptu photo shoot at her house. It was too dark to take better pictures, but at least we ran into Eduardo who studied with us in High School so you can imagine it's been a while since we had seen him. I have to give credit to him for taking some pictures and the beautiful blue gate in the background is from his house. Also Ana helped taking a few pictures, styling and even helping me pose. I was wearing a white button up shirt from Forever 21 with golden collar tip pins from BCBG Generation, a vintage striped sweater from my grandmother's closet, the camouflage pants from Zara, and the beige snake sandals from Valija Gitana you've both seen here. I hope this look inspires you to take the risk of mixing prints, as you can see I did it with stripes and camouflage. I think stripes are the easiest prints to do this with, they look awesome with leopard, polka dots, floral, you name it! Well, as always, enjoy!
I have to admit I was a little intimidated of wearing this pullover, but once I had it on me its like how extreme athletes feel when they get that surge of adrenaline doing something so risk taking. It might sound exaggerated, but it's still a risk though a fashion one. And now more than ever it feels like a risk because exposing myself like this might not look well to people who are considering me in a professional way, but I decided that it's a risk worth taking not only because I look awesome (yeah I have to admit it) but also because it's a way for me to express myself freely and nothing is getting in the way of that. Another risk I took wearing this yesterday to class was getting a heat stroke since these days it's either been extremely sunny or pouring rain. No matter, my day at the university was short and I soon had to change to go to the gym. I got the sweater from SheInside, the beautiful leggings with the embroidery print are from PacSun and the flats that you might have seen before are from Old Navy. I would have love to wear more fashionable shoes, but wearing heels to the university is a no-no for me unless I have a presentation. The mural you see in the next picture is actually from one of the students there, the whole parking lot was filled with beautiful art, and that is one of the few things I enjoy about USC and I hope you do too. Until the next look you can go f- yourself! JUST KIDDING!
