Three days after returning to reality from Albany I left for a short and fun trip to Denver, Colorado with Texi to visit his cousin Tito, so I didn't quite get my feet on the ground of my home island yet. Denver really seems like a cool place to live in, but the multiple tornado warnings I got once I arrived (apparently they're very rare in the city except when I'm there) did not help in making me want to live there. I still enjoyed riding a bike everywhere (although I was in bad shape for it), especially to all the cool breweries. I also went hiking (yup, more exercise) at Staunton State Park, which was beautiful yet scary because of a thunder storm that appeared out of nowhere. Now I can add Denver to my list of awesome places I've seen in America this year. I'm so grateful to have traveled to New York, Boston, Montreal, and Miami and I hope to see so much more, but first I'm going to have to work for it one look at a time of course!

It's Spring, finally! You know what that means: shorts! Here is a night out look that can help anyone transition from winter with the use of the indispensable motto jacket. While I was wearing such a classic yet bad ass piece I just had to pair it with a very classy button down shirt from Ann Taylor and the cutest pleather bow tie from Valija Gitana that you saw on my "Classy Hillbilly" look. The denim shorts are actual vintage ones from Ouna's Closet, and since its still not warm enough to completely bare my legs and I wanted to make the look even edgier I wore sheer black tights with lace up ankle boots from Charlotte Russe. I actually wore this look a while back ago to a rarely warm night in Albany in which I celebrated one of my international friend's birthday. Only one cool picture was taken that night so I took the liberty of asking the same person who took it to help me do a mini photo shoot for this blog post. I have to give credit to Beatrice Bonetti, a truly awesome Italian friend and now photographer :) Enjoy the pictures and style inspiration. I'm back from being MIA because of Spring Break! I'm actually kind of sad about it since I enjoyed it so much and for a while I felt back in Puerto Rico or in Summer (yeah I'm a little homesick). Today I have two looks in one for you, which are perfect for the transition to spring. I bought the dress in my first trip to NYC at Zara on sale and now I can't help thinking it will have so much sentimental value because of the fun I've had wearing it in Albany and Miami. For the first look I used the dress as a skirt by wearing a PacSun sweater I bought before leaving P.R. . This not only changed up the look and made it more casual, it also kept me warmer. I wore the dress with tights and boots from Charlotte Russe in Albany, but in Miami I made the look more party worthy by loosing the sweater, the tights, and wearing it with a nice pair of lace up heels. This look would not be finished without red lips and nails to match of course. I'm having such an incredible experience out here, it is hard not to have mixed feelings about going home or not. For now I will just have to enjoy every moment one outfit at a time. Enjoy! A few confessions about this look before I actually talk about what I was wearing: 1. It is not the only outfit I wore that day (but it's the one with the best picture) 2. I don't want to bore you with pictures of touristy things I did (or show you the other outfit) 3. My boyfriend did not like this look (it is a weird sequinned top after all) 4. I went completely "fan girl" for this mural because I saw it in Gary Pepper Girl and on The Blonde Salad 5. I wasn't satisfied with just the picture in front ofthe mural so I took this other one and ironically looks cool in black and white. Now that this is out of the way I can tell you about the look. I was wearing a new Zara sequinned 1/4 of a top is what you can call it, with an Ann Taylor shirt, Route 66 distressed jeans, and Converse Sneakers. This was for the third day of my weekend with Texi in NYC and on this day we went to the Natural History Museum, which of course made us feel cool because of the movie (check my Instagram @fridalorraine for my picture with Dum Dum). The rest of the day we basically spent it finding good places to eat and drink around Amsterdam Ave. and East Village where I found this mural. So now the question I would like to know is what do you think of the outfit and the pictures, go on don't be shy! And while you're at it go ahead and follow on Bloglovin' and Facebook too ;) Hey fellow readers! Here I give you my first look for NYC this past weekend, where I met up with Texi finally! I was too busy squeezing him so I did not take any pictures the night he arrived, except for one of him eating the biggest pizza slice I've ever seen. So I took the pictures for the outfit basically now in the back of my building again. I wore this Célfie T-shirt I've had for a while now, but finally got the chance to combine it with this great vintage faux fur coat from my grandmother's closet, and another borrowed item: my boyfriends check shirt. I was also wearing the pleather pants from Forever 21 you've seen a billion times already, and my new white Converse sneakers (I didn't even have to say they're new, just look at how white they are). I had an incredible time with Texi in the city, and I'm going to share more about this on the next post, obviously with all the looks which were all with the same coat, but hey you can get some ideas on how to pack light for cold weather trips. Enjoy this one for now! Here's a look that was a little overdue. I wore this on Saturday February 15th on a night out after a very cool day of skiing. I was wearing the Zara lace slip dress you saw in my last look from Puerto Rico this time with tights obviously because of the cold. Over the dress I wore an Ann Taylor sweater with a color that is really beautiful and matched perfectly with an oversized vintage tribal scarf from my grandmother's closet. If you have been keeping up with my Instagram you probably noticed I was in Montreal this past weekend with my friends Beni and Bea. It was truly another amazing experience I can add to what I've lived while on the exchange program this semester. This next weekend will be an even better one because I will be able to share this type of experience with Texi. I'm so excited! Until next week then, enjoy! Time passes even quicker in The City as you walk by the tall buildings, the lights, the stores, the people, and you don't realize that maybe you've done miles of it. This was the look for day 3 of my trip to N.Y.C., which was too short unfortunately. I wore a very pink turtle neck sweater from my grandmother's closet with pleather pants from Forever 21, ankle boots from Zara, and the most matching hat that I bought as a souvenir. The day started with another great breakfast at Greenwich Village, then the shopping started. Before we knew it it was time to head back to Albany. I cannot wait to come back to this place, it really felt magical to me. I know it might seem exaggerated, but being a movie buff like me you would understand that when you go to a place you've only seen in the big screen you just feel like you're in your own film, and that is magical. Until the next trip or the next look, enjoy! Day two of The Big Apple and this was another one filled with a surprising amount of sight seeing for one day. The day started with the most amazing breakfast at the cutest little place in Greenwich Village. Then we headed down to Washington Square Park where Beni took yet another great set of pictures for my blog. The look I wore under the only coat I brought to The City was a combination of a new top I bought there in one of the many H&M's with the best fitting camo pants and boots from Zara. After the park we saw Little Italy, where I had a canoli for the first time and it was delicious! Then we walked down Broadway up to the Brooklyn Bridge to later walk even more to catch the ferry to Staten Island and see the Statue of Liberty. Finally we had an amazing night at Times Square, which had a Red Lobster we had been dying to try and we could not end the night without some Cosmopolitans. It really was an amazing day and I owe it all to the person I shared it with, Beni (grazie!). More pictures of day three are to come, enjoy these for now! Yes! I finally made it to New York City and right when Fashion Week started, but being my first time in this magical place I did not see anything related to the event. In fact, I might have been near a show and not even know about it. I feel kind of guilty that I did not even try to see the event, but at the same time I feel I had no choice since I wanted to see much more before that. My friend Beni and I did see a lot in just two days and we are really proud of that. These pictures are from the first day, Friday February 7th. Our first stop was Central Park, which had become a Winter Wonderland and that made us love it even more. I was wearing a striped top from Banana Republic, with ripped jeans from Kmart, ankle boots from Zara, and coat and scarf from one of my grandmother's closet and the furry hat is from another grandmother (grannies are great!). After that we walked through Fifth Avenue until we found The Empire State Building. We had gotten there just in time for the sunset and it truly was an amazing site. The night ended with great eats and drinks at The Village, and boy was it fun! Enjoy the pictures, and in the next post you can expect more of my adventures in N.Y.C. Snow really does make for a great backdrop. These pictures were taken last week by yet another friend I've made in the exchange program, Clifford. This was right outside the dorms I was living in, but now I've moved somewhere more modern (maybe not as beautiful outside) and more comfortable. I was wearing and all white outfit (as always matchy matchy, this time with the snow) combining a sweater I bought right before leaving to Albany at J.C. Penney with a pair of floral printed jeans from American Eagle Outfitters, and lace up boots from Charlotte Russe. To top the white outfit off (and look cuter) I wore white earmuffs I bought at Crossgates Mall and a pair of vintage hand made mittens from my grandmother's closet. I'm really excited about the next post, which is about The City (yes that's right, N.Y.C.) so stay tuned and enjoy! |
